White first put on a pair of skates at age three, in sunny Southern California. His family spent countless nights at LA Kings games, watching Wayne Gretzky and many others. Years later, the Anaheim Ducks franchise joined the NHL. At the same time, White's family built and operated two separate ice arenas in Southern California, with a total of five ice sheets. At the age of fifteen, White left home to attend Cushing Academy, in Ashburnham, Massachusetts. The Penguins hockey team was one of the best developmental boarding school programs in the United States, competing in the Division One New England Prep School Ice Hockey Association (NEPSIHA). In his Junior year, he was named the Most Valuable Player of the prestigious E. G. Watkins Holiday Hockey Tournament. This honor propelled him to sign with NCAA Division-I Quinnipiac University, in Hamden, Connecticut. White was one of ten 2001 graduating class players from Cushing Academy to earn a Division One scholarship.
His career continued at Quinnipiac, where he was part of a league championship team, and participated in an NCAA Championship Tournament. In his Freshman year, he was named to the All-Tournament Team for his playoff performance. Some of the most memorable opponents from his collegiate career include: Duncan Keith, Ryan Miller, Ryan Suter, Jimmy Howard, Ryan Kesler, and Douglas Murray. White finished his career as part of the school’s exclusive Century Club, a special recognition given to players that record 100+ points in their collegiate career. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree, with a focus of Entrepreneurship and Management, in 2005.
Getting back to his roots, and giving back to Southern California hockey, White played a huge role turning the Long Beach Bombers Tier-II Junior A program around. In his eight seasons with the organization, the team went from an 18-win club to a 46-win club, and won four-consecutive Western Division Championships. His career coaching record is 223-133-15, while recording a 126-46-10 record at the Tier-II level. White has also been an evaluator for several USA Hockey Player Development Camps in the Pacific District and United States Hockey League team camps.
