IHM Welcomes Canadian Defenseman Mike McKee
International Hockey Management is proud to announce the signing of Canadian defenseman, Mike McKee, of the Tulsa Oilers in the ECHL. The 2012 Detroit Red Wings draft pick, and Western Michigan alumnus, was born August 17, 1993. The Newmarket, Ontario native stands 6'5 and weighs 235 pounds. The 27 year-old left shot was called-up to the AHL's Tucson Roadrunners, this season, as well.
McKee has spent four seasons in Tulsa, amassing 260 Games Played, with a stat line of 13G-44A-57PTS-645PIMS. The rugged defender's path to professional hockey came through US Prep (Kent School in Connecticut), the USHL (Lincoln Stars), and the aforementioned Western Michigan University (NCAA Division I). McKee has worn at letter at both the collegiate and professional levels, and has attended NHL camps for the Red Wings and St. Louis Blues. McKee is coming off a career year, statistically, with individual season bests in Assists (14) and Points (17). 2011-2012 was a particularly memorable year as McKee was the USHL's Most Penalized Player (237), was selected for the USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game, and was drafted in the 5th Round (140th overall) of the NHL Draft.
International Hockey Management President, Chris White, commented,
Mike is a big, strong defenseman that does all of the little things to make his team successful; a very selfless approach. He is no fun to play against. At this stage of his career, he is keeping his eyes and ears open to all that is available to him. We think he has some under-utilized skills, and we are excited to work alongside him to explore his options.
WELCOME TO THE IHM TEAM, mike!
